At JJ Performance & Restoration, we combine decades of motorsport expertise with a passion for precision engineering. Founded on a love of classic and performance cars, our workshop has grown from humble beginnings into a trusted destination for restorations, race preparation, performance upgrades, and servicing.
What sets us apart is our heritage: from rally stages to championship grids, our experience spans over 40 years of building, preparing, and maintaining vehicles at the highest level. Whether it’s a classic restoration, a bespoke performance build, or everyday servicing with OE-approved parts, our team delivers the same level of care, craftsmanship, and commitment.
Today, alongside our award-winning restoration and race projects, we proudly support owners in the Clio 182 Championship (750 Motor Club) and continue to uphold the same values that built our reputation—quality, trust, and results.
Jan and John Shields
Founder & Owner
John began his engineering career as an aircraft technician in the Royal Air Force, working on Phantom jets and helicopters while also preparing cars for the RAF rally team. His motorsport journey has since spanned the Alfa Romeo Auto Italia Championship, BTCC, and the British Rally Championship, including building the first-ever Alfa 147 Super 1600 Rally Car. Today, John leads JJ Performance & Restoration with a focus on restoration, race builds, and championship support, including the renowned Lancia Delta Integrale 16v HF.
Lewis & Jack
Apprentices
Lewis and Jack represent the next generation of motorsport engineering. Under John’s guidance, they are developing hands-on skills in servicing, restoration, and performance preparation. Their enthusiasm for cars and dedication to learning make them key to the workshop’s future—bringing fresh energy while upholding the standards JJ Performance & Restoration is known for.
Keith
Mechanical Specialist
A seasoned expert in all things mechanical, Keith is the workshop’s go-to problem solver. With decades of hands-on experience across engines, drivetrains, and complex repairs, he steps in when specialist knowledge is required. His insight and craftsmanship ensure even the toughest mechanical challenges are solved with precision.
